Storytelling with Photography

A Workshop by Rena Effendi

This storytelling workshop focuses on developing long-term photography projects that go beyond single images to create cohesive, emotionally resonant visual narratives. Participants will learn how to edit, sequence, and structure their work to convey meaning through rhythm and flow, supported by strong captions and written descriptions. We’ll explore how to tell larger, universal stories through the microcosm of one family, one place, or one community—finding the intimate moments that reveal broader truths. The workshop will also emphasize refining your creative vision and identifying what makes your perspective stand out from others. In addition, participants will gain practical skills in pitching stories to editors and writing compelling grant proposals that communicate both artistic intent and social relevance.

Eligibility

This workshop is ideal for early- to mid-career photographers looking to refine their practice and critically examine their work.
